Just like, as Geo said, his gta subsection gets more activity than the separate forum category on here, a separate Source domain could possibly do more than just something labeled under "Other" here.SourceGuy wrote:We already have a subsection for the Source engine, but activity in there is minimal. Same goes for the other 'new' subsections. How can we boost activity there?

Re: Site Complaints and Future of HM
The reason Geo's site did well was because he released a unique bit of content there. Had he released it on HaloMods, the activity would have been here. Just creating a seperate website isn't going to boost activity by itself. Things need to be jump started by some modders interested in taking on some source engine challenges.

I don't mean a section...I mean full Blown. Slash out the Halo and make It Half ( ok...maybe not that >_>)
Its very radical...but what else are we going to do? I like that wiki Idea, but We are in a rock and a hardplace. Then again by now there are probably already dedicated places for that. Why should anyone bother coming Here?
What else is modifiable that hasn't been tested fully? ( I can't think of a better way to word that question...hopefully you get the jist)

You would have to do what any modding community does, make mods, people play the mods, they spread over the internet, other users come here to see new mods, learn how the mods were done, etc.

Source is stupid. The reason so many people like halomodding is because you have to figure everything out, and make all the research and apps with a community. You can just use hammer with any source game, that is why not a lot of people pay attention to it. You have everything handed to you, there is no challenge. And it's not only the halomodding community that has been declining, its the general xbox hacking community too. Xbox one is pretty much over at this point. You could probally say it was over a long time ago. But because people have moved on to 360, and they lost all hope by this point, a lot of the general xbox community is gone. Halo was also popular because of how amazing it and it's gameplay was at the time. Now with the new next gen games coming out, there are no games that meet that potential.

Are you saying we should convert HaloMods to a general game modding site?INSANEdrive wrote:I don't mean a section...I mean full Blown. Slash out the Halo and make It Half ( ok...maybe not that >_>)

Re: Site Complaints and Future of HM
it's true. Halo in general was admired because of it's beauty and how well it played. I find it hard to find another game I can fully enjoy as much as I have with Halo1 for example. It's difficult for myself to take an interest in any other game modding. Not sure why but i'm still strong in love with modding halo. Thus the reason I come to this site still....the ONLY reason. In hopes I find something new or interesting.grimdoomer wrote:Source is stupid. Not to down talk you source but I think the main priority should be focused on what we can do to bring people in or back to modding halo. Shoot maybe a contest with an actual decent prize at the end rather than an emblem or signature. Such as a halomods t-shirt. Just a suggestion. One person alone may not be able to give out a good prize for contests and such but if a few people or a group of people conspired in a prize, the contests would have that much more hmph.
Again, agreeing with grim, this is an extremely uphill battle because the 360 is out. Not many still linger on the original xbox. hell, even microsoft ended thier support for it last week I think it was. In all honesty, I haven't modded in months if not the past year or so. I use my xbox for ONLY XBMC to watch shows and movies and stuff. It's just a media router for me now. Not so much for games. it's ashame but it's true. So there needs to be a huge incentive to come back to halo modding. And I say halo modding because that's where this community's main interest is. I don't think moving on towards another game is going to work. If anything, it'll just help dig it's grave as stated by Tural.
*Conclusion* Halo is where it's at. like it or not.
I would agree as well. I like seeing posts by mutual friends of halomods but if it were a generalized site, goodbye. Not that I want it to be a threat but I wouldn't find this place nearly as attractive.grimdoomer wrote:I for one would leave as this wouldn't be halomods any more.

No. Making this a general modding site would fail. Halo 3 being modded, Or even H2V being fully modded would jump start us back up....
I smell a community project.

No because Halo 3 will not be publicly modable any time soon, and Halo 2 vista is the same thing as xbox just twice the amount of idiots and twice the amount of pain in the ass.Trulife8342 wrote:No. Making this a general modding site would fail. Re: Site Complaints and Future of HM
Having competitions won't help, in my opinion, as people will be modding just for the prize.
Now you've had my opinion, now have a fact. Nothing, bar Halo 3 or Halo Wars being publicly moddable, will save HaloMods as we know it. It's just that simple.
Halo, Halo PC/CE, Halo 2 and Halo 2 vista are pretty much obsolete games. People have moved on, that's what happens. If this wasn't true, we'd all still be playing space invaders.
If you want to save the HaloMods you know, the plan has got to be to get Halo 3 modding possible, or for those that know how, to release.
If this isn't done, then we pretty much have no choice but to look into other games. Halo 1/2 modding is never going to kick off again, to even half of what it once was.

What he said ^
A halo 2 wiki is an extra, it's not going to save us.

Re: Site Complaints and Future of HM
I do think the Halo 2 Wiki is a good idea though, and I'd be interested in setting it up. As SG said, it won't save HaloMods, but it would be a nice feature.
Re: Site Complaints and Future of HM
This. Sure it probably will not be like Halo 2, but it will start a new modding era. Halo 2 modding lasted from 2004 to about... now. I would expect Halo 3 to last about the same.Geo wrote: If you want to save the HaloMods you know, the plan has got to be to get Halo 3 modding possible, or for those that know how, to release.

im here to the end. I will click some adds(OMG, never thought I would say that.), and I support whatever descion you make.
Edit by SourceGuy: Do NOT click ads just to get me cash - google would close my account! Thanks for trying to help though.
(Whatever, just trying to help, thought two clicks was fine but apparently not.)
