Map Description: "The high cliff walls of this dessert valley shield it from the destructive dessert beyond"

Extra Notes: This map is not finished and I was just releasing it as a preview so I wasn't sure where exactly it belonged so if it is in the wrong board just move it...

There is no download...This cannot be submitted here sorry...Move this to the pictures thread I think...

The skin looks very nice, but it seems as if they are Bungie's textures, I could be wrong, but since there's no download, I cannot tell whats what...I have always been a firm believer in that pictures don't do justice and I stand by it (hence why I hate people who judges solely by pictures eg Tural, who will be Beelzeboss's sex slave), so I can't really advise too much beyond that unless you release and I paly it...
But I'll try a bit harder, the rock/ship texture looks blurred compared to the other textures and the sand and grass textures look slightly tiled, but that may just be the _ground.bitm... Also, rocks aren't generally shiny like that, I suggest you null out the reflection map (specular?)

Remember, you can just relase and update it later, just tell us that its updated so we cn adjust our thoughts on the mod accordingly.

I was wondering about that... The ground.bitm is bungie's I just painted the grasses on (the sand I haven't gotten around to yet). The ship wreckage is actually metal (hard to tell in the pics I guess.. And I Think I'll make a patch for it now because for the most part its good for a beta...(50% done to my standards but the other 50% is all the small things...)

EDIT: is it legal for someone to send me some bitmaps from the game? I corrupted mine, lol. (And my backups somehow...) ((And if I wasn't supposed to say that I'll delete it))(((I cannot release a patch until I fix all the bitmaps)...hummm actually scratch all of that -- I'll grab the bitmaps from Zanzibar... In the morning... errr: later in the morning...(its 6:15am right now...and no I'm not waking up...)... So forgive this disjointed post and I'll have a download for you tomorrow (in like 8hrs...) Oh and i show I watched earlier is having a rerun... damn I need sleep.

2nd EDIT: I should stop...now...before I completely ruin this map... well keep posting those critiques peoples! I'll read them in the afternoon...when I wake up... after I have some coffee...

Haha! By all means go for it...But c'mon this is a skinning competition...Where you skin, sure you can use Bungie's textures but that tells me and the other judges that you are unable to do so yourself and would rather go the easy way out rather than actually making some proper textures (and when comparing the photo you took or got off the internet to the final texture is quite kool, seeing all the changes you've made to make it work properly in game)...

You can use them, we won't mark you down, but we most certainly won't mark you up...

And it is illegal to send the Bungie textures to you...Plus, since its a skinning comp, skin them yourself

u have good textures, but i don't really like how u have sand and then cave seems lil off for some reason. but i like the textures just need another look at the theme to me, also dosent oasis have water, try puting water and palm trees and that'll make it loads better

Read the main menu description:
"this makeshift heretic camp on basis is littered with wreckage from the destruction of Installation 04"

but the map does look awsome though, i really like it.

nice MC skin. your cliffs and rocks dont really match which in my opinion makes it look bad. also where the ground meets the cliffs it doesnt blend well.

Yes I agree with some of your complaints as well -- the cliff where on my list of things to be worked on and now since I just dragged my slobbering butt out of bed I'll go and release that patch I was talking about.

OH: and the MS skin is just my own messed up bump map that I map from the texture that gives it the worn darkened spots...anyways...back to that patch...

I think it looks really nice. Just needs a sky change in my opinion, but I like the shinyness of the wreckage. Good job.

Sky change, and ground change is needed. You have the dark cliffs, but really light ground.

My critcism would be:

Make ground a darker texture to match the darkness emitted from the cliffs. And remove the glossy affect that plagues the cliffs and structures.

Yes; The cliff will either be changed to sandstone or the ground will be blended better with the surrounding textures. The name...well I wont change it right now because its fitting and you cannot copyright them. Finally I don't know if this will be done for ScottyGEE's competition because of homework issues... Now if I could get some people who are actually willing to download the map and beta it I would be very happy... finally the textures are really just placeholders until, I can finish some of the other things that need doing.
