Texture help
ok I'm making a map for ScottyGee's tournament(that why Im not posting pictures) but I have a question if make a texture like snow for example on something it will look good from far away but not when you get up close it turns really ugly.

Try making your texture smaller while keeping the size the same...
Say the bitmap you are editing is 256x256 pixels. So make your texture 128x128 but tile it to fill the 256x256 space. That'll make the texture appear half the size.

No, lower resolution is never a good idea for making tings look better close up. I recomment maybe using a shader that uses 512x512 textures and seeing if that helps any. Another thing you could try is making your texture from a high-res image, and then scaling it down to 256x256 or whatever size you need. All too often people will start with a small source bitmap, and by they time they're done editing it to fit what they want on their map, it looks like a nasty piece of trash. Start big, edit big, and scale down to the size you need.
