Adding Snow/Rain

i need help, i am making a mod and i am trying to add Snow/Rain
i am following the Tutorial In the tutorials section everything goes fine until i get to the bit where you have to find "niar" in the HEX wich i cannot do i have tried a few hexing programs, but it is obviously something to do with how i rebuild the map, can someone tell me how to rebuild the map when adding rain/snow? pweeeeeeeeese
