Why do people still play PC?
Well, it's been a few years since GBX released Halo CE, and with the improved net code and lack of tweeks in the original maps, why do people still play PC?
Since people finally started making working conversions of the single player maps, there would be absolutely no need to play PC. And because you can still make your standard mods with HMT and HHT for CE maps, or better yet, make your own, you still have the mod-a-bility in CE as you did in PC.
So, why do people still play PC? CE is soooo much better and it's not like it costs any more money! It may be a large download, but I've seen bigger (just today I was downloading the Maya trial... 200+MB install file there, and don't get me started on the Vista ISO). Also, with CE, you can remove the classic maps if you don't want them, you can have only the maps you want. And with the improved dev commands, hosting stunts servers has never been easier.
So, in conclusion, I see no logical reason for ANYONE to play Halo PC. So why do they?

first of all, i think theres a bigger community in PC, and a lot of those ppl playing havnt heard or couldnt download HCE. And i like CE as much as u, but more ppl play PC, and thats why i like playin PC. CE is fun to mod, though. Probly fun to make maps, too. But i dont got 3ds max, or a k****n...lol

Thats what I was thinking was the main reason...xXxCocoFangxXx wrote:I play Halo PC because it has the Campaign, and also because it has a lot hella of a lot more than people on it.
If there would be enough people to make the change to Halo CE instead of PC... hopefully the rest would follow... (doubt it would ever happen though)
I mean... it's not like the PC users dont know about CE... it says it right in the menu thinger when you''re choisng a game to join "Or you could download the free Halo CE:Custom Edition!" or something like that...
It just baffles me why someone wouldnt want to play on new maps.... with new content.......

We have the entire Campaign flawlessly converted to CE, so that's now pointlessxXxCocoFangxXx wrote:I play Halo PC because it has the Campaign, and also because it has a lot hella of a lot more than people on it.

I don't think it's pointless, also the Multiplayer is still way huger on Halo PC!FleetAdmiralBacon wrote:We have the entire Campaign flawlessly converted to CE, so that's now pointlessxXxCocoFangxXx wrote:I play Halo PC because it has the Campaign, and also because it has a lot hella of a lot more than people on it.

And if everyone who said that they didn't play CE because of a lack of players, did play CE, there wouldn't be a lack of players.

Your examples are meaningless. CE Is the same game only better, there is no point to play PC anymore. And yes, it is a ****** to download on DialUp, but not all those people have dial up.Aquafina wrote:Why do people still play Half-Life? Why do people still play World Of Warcraft? Because, they are great games.
Also, CE is a ***** to download when you have Dial up.

Uhh... I don't think I've had Halo CE ever crash on me and the glitch factor is much lower on CE as well.Aquafina wrote:Halo CE is only a heavy modification to Halo. Giving it better multiplay, and better options.
However, Halo is stable, and you dont have to worry about Hacks, crashes, or glitches.
Hacks, most importantly.

I considered the Dialup option.. but wouldnt it LAGG REALLY BAD for them anyhow when playing PC.. pretty much forceing them to quit anyhow? I doubt there are that many dialup players honestly.FleetAdmiralBacon wrote:Your examples are meaningless. CE Is the same game only better, there is no point to play PC anymore. ya whatever.... i downloaded CE like 2 years ago when i still had dial up and it worked. i started the download at 7:30am one day and it finished at 11:00PM. next day i installed and played, and i never regreted it. It takes a long time but if you want to play it just give it the day. i was out biking the whole day so i didnt care it took that long. having dial up is really not an excuse for not playing CE. also, the people you meet in halo ce are nicer and smarter than most of the people you meet in halo pc. also no body will join your server in halo pc until like 30 minutes is up because there are so many servers. in ce people join faster and you can fly big ships in multiplayer maps like the P.O.A Space and RPG3Aquafina wrote:Why do people still play Half-Life? PLEASE do not bring this topic up AGAIN.... A long time ago there was an enourmous argument between PCers and CEers, and there was, near the end, a huge scare that PC modding would actually be taken off the site.
People play PC because PC is where it all starts... people who have the game are first introduced into modding when they play PC, and therefore, there must be modders to introduce them to modding! If everyone from modding communities moved to CE all at once, there would be no new modders, and, eventually, the communities would die. Noone to replace the established modders that were, but have grown out of modding. *cry*
