Do you need a modchip to run Avalaunch?

I got every thing all set up and evry thing with the bios and stuff but at the part of the trial it said you can flash the bios with your modchip and i dont have one can i do it some how anyways?

Can anyone help me out like step by step on aim i will apreaciate it ALOT
