[FEB 2006] MOTM VOTING

Howdy. Now, it's not against the rules to have muliple accounts, so is It legal to vote with multiple accounts to swing the votes in a particular favor? I don't do this as I have only one acccount, nor will I ever do this. I'm just wondering. I thought of this when I saw a multi-account question posted in the complaints room.

Just merely a question, not an accusation or an idea I'm having.

Also, this is already a great MOTM!

How did Cable Room get that many votes in such little time

??? Is anybody cheating cuz it ain't for for one person who has more than one account to vote more than once. You only get one vote for anything in life anyway. This is unfair if that is what has happened.

Biohazard and Sunnision were great mods but i had to put my vote on the The Cable Room becouse king of the hill was amazing

Yeah, I'm just trying to make my guilty concience feel better about asking this. I don't want people to think I'm oging to multi-acount to make my favored mod win. I really don't have any intentions of doing this, and I personally think it's wrong. Also, I'm making no accusations. It's still the first day, and anything could happen. It was really just me wondering aloud, but I'd still like an answer. I don't think there's any official stance for or against this, so I was wondering what was up.

Anyway, I really hope nobody here gets the wrong idea from me asking this... I mean nothing by it. It's superficial: I really just want to know the answer. There's nothing to read into it.

Well if that's ever the case we might have to do things a little differently next time by taking out the poll option and tally'ing posted votes manually. As of now I see nothing wrong with the distribution, all are very good mods and there's no need for speculation like this to ruin their credibility.

Well, unless you know a users complete name list and/or are a moderator with access to user IP information (which shrewd members can get away with changing), that isn't going to work either...

mods can run an ip check on users.if there are double votes remove them

xbox7887, I'm not speculation to ruin credibility or anything. As it is, this seems like a fair competition. Maybe if I were asking after a few days of the polls being open I can see people thinking I'm trying to make accusations, but it's the first day, only hours into voting. Anything can happen. I promise I'm not trying to sabatage this competition. Please don't read into me or what I do too much. I'm a very superficial guy

Like I said, this MOTM is great. It's probably the single best competition I've ever seen, and good luck to the candidates!

No, you bring up a valid issue in which I'm sure has taken place many times before. The one drawback would be, like The Swamp Fox said, is that there are ways around it...therefore the only thing we really can do is assume everyone is playing a fair game.

true xbox very true...i know when i voted today i think i was the 9th or 10th vote for cableroom..i sent im's to the rest of the team,letting them know the poll was up and to cast their votes,that would explain atleast 10 votes for cableroom,being they voted for cableroom.It really is a tight contest.i will be happy for scotty if he wins i love the ivory mod,and have it on my xbox.

Ugh...I understand your hate for arbiters and everything they stand for. I share some of the same beliefs, but this is not the place to take out your agression or add any comments other than what mod you're voting for and your reasons behind it.

That's fine but this contest is about voting for who's mod is better...not about feeling obligated to vote for team mods.

Start your own 'unofficial' MOTM, if it's successful then I see no reason why other platforms wouldn't be included.
