If your dad is experienced, it would be almost impossible. I never soldered before in my life before i did my xbox. I got an old mother board and practiced a few times with that, and then it was a piece of cake. Turns out the hard part was getting that damn bios flashed!
Just read as many tutorials as you can before you go through with the actual installation. I was able to install it first try with no problems at all. The soldering and everything is the easiest part, the hard part is flashing the BIOS. Just read all the tutorials and you and your dad will do fine.
