Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

yes, i'm a noob, yes i've searched the faces of the gods for answers, I'm just a designer with a weak spot for Halo and customizing stuff, but if this will be the place for answers, a lot of other threads can be closed and bandwith be spared.

THANKS IN ADVANCE for having the patience and sharing your knowledge with his clumsiness... "sigh..."

download hmt then go to bitmaps, select the bitmap you want to change, click save bitmap, open it in photoshop, you will need a certain nvidia plugin too, im not sure where to get atm sry but search and you should find it, the plugin is for photoshop to let it read .dds files and convert then to rgp or w/e

EDITING:

yes, you need to download hmt from the halomods\files forum\untilities.

Once u dl'd HMt, open it. now go to file->open & navigate to your halo directory(c:/program files/microsoft games/halo) & go to the maps folder. open a map & then click the pkus next to bitmaps on the long list. now you need to find the warthog skin. click it & hit the extract button.

now, you need a plugin for photoshop or whateva you're using. Or you can use CONVIM(search on google mb?). then once, u extract the bitmap from the .dds, you'll have a tiff. now, go into phtotoshop or whateva u use & edit it howeva you like.

now, to get it ingame-move to step two...

TO GET INGAME:

well, what u do is extract the skin from halo pc using hmt(?) & then you have to download HEK. Now, edit the bitmaps however u want & then go to tool.

After you're done editing your bitmap(s), put the bitmap files
into "halo custom edition\data\vehicles" -create a new folder called warthog & inside "warthog" make a folder called "Bitmaps". So u put the bitmaps into the "C:/program files/microsoft games/halo custom edition/data/vehicles/warthog/bitmaps" ...right?

ok, here comes the "tricky" part i guess... Go to start/programs/accessories/command prompt (unless u have the CMD).

type in "cd C:\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition"
then hit enter

now type in "tool.exe"
hit enter
a list of things should appear...& it's basically everything u can do in tool.

now in tool type: "tool.exe bitmaps vehicles\warthog\bitmaps"

it should go through & build the tag for you...

now, in your halo ce directory, open the program called guerila. now, go to file->open, & go to vehicles\warthog\shaders\warthog hull.shader_model(unless u made a skin for something else).

now, scroll down to "maps"
if u look below you should see a map u-scale, etc. look at the "base map" section. hit the three dots next to "open" on the right hand side(for base map). now, navigate to your bitmap(vehicles\warthog\bitmaps\YOUR_BITMAP).

close & save the shader.
& tha's pretty much it...

if that doesn't work(which it might not...) then u'll have to download the gbxmodel converter by steelix & get the model into max...but that'll be much harder. if you need help-hit me up on AIM: scoobyd00dog

well, i hope that helped some? & i hope it works for ya...cuz it'll be a pain to have to use the importer & link all the nodes & stuff. well, i'll ttyl!
