Blender is the best free on I think, open source too. Maya and 3ds max dominate the 3d market for PC, and Wings3D for mac.

I tried a couple, and I cannot use them for crap. I'm too used to 3ds max.

Blender, i did not like at all, and Wings3D is pretty good. But remember he said mac

Carrera and Amapi...they cannot be TOO well known. I have never heard of them and they have never once come up here.

Amapi was used to make yoyorast island ;). So thats a pretty good benchmark for the power of amapi. I downloaded the demo of it once, it has a real good r/s. I diddnt try to model anything appart from a standard sphere as I was just checking out how well it renders.

p.s. oooh you had to post before me.. >:(

To be honest, i don't really like yoyorast, so it gives me a bad impression of that program.

The renders are pretty cool though, I never thought of using amapi for making maps though, I suppose it is still quite a powerful modeling tool.

Yoyorast is pretty cool, i played a few games with him before on halo and he helped me with some french ;). But I think he set his goal a little too high to give his map to a games company..

And for those of you who think I double posted, blame pie, for there once was a post in between *tells dark story*.
