I have a Problem With Halo and The Internet

Post by Lloyd »

For some reason I cant play Halo online every time I try to join a game it comes up with some box in the middle of the screen and says stuff like game closed, connection error, or pretty much every other messang Halo can give me.

But it works fine on lan. I think it might have something to do with my network but I dont know how to fix it.

Thanks

I tryed rebooting my modem but it didn't help.

All this started happening after I instaled the Microsoft .NET framework a long time ago when it was an update

Wireless = Omg you might need to buy like 5million wireless bases with 4 wireless rounters.
I had to buy 5 base and 4 routers to get my friends one to work online.

well if your isp blocks those ports, then you might be outta luck... maybe you can ask them to release that port... a gamin port I dunno, look up a port list on google, it will give you a list of what all the ports are used for...

maybe its not your ISP... maybe its your computer...

Careful, these are often other addresses as well:

http://192.168.1.1
http://192.168.0.100
http://192.168.1.100

Just be sure to give the first as well as what you said

to check if your windows firewall is working click start>control panel>network connections>and it should say like LAN or High-Speed Internet or for you maybe 'Wirless Connections' or something. right click on your connection icon and select properties>click the tab labeled 'Advanced' then under Windows firewall click settings and make sure its turned off. By the way ports are used to connect something to like the internet, the default ports for halo are i think 2302 and 2303, open halo click settings then network settings, try changing those if nothing else works, but write down the default ports before altering them.

BTW do you have windows SP2? The firewall their is much better...or get zonealarm @ http://zonelabs.com
to get windows SP2 turn on ytour automatic updates...hopefuly u know how
and try redownloading microsoft.net framework, r just completely removing it

Usually the Windows firewall isn't a problem, but a router definitely is.
