Under "Target Map" choose the CE map.
Under "Map Folder" should be your Halo PC maps folder

Choose "MP" from the right-dropdown box
Choose "bloodgulch.map" (could be anything else) from the left dropdown box

Click "Find Ones"

Click Convert

If you end up with corrupt bitmaps after the conversion, re-convert it but choose "Find All"

No plans to add xbox support as that would mean having a better understanding of the xbox format, such as the necessary cache file size, and knowing how to add bitmaps to the raw data section. Technical information would be appreciated and I may consider it. Although I think there's already a way to do such things. Some one mentioned "magic" at one point or another. There's got to be some reason most of the NTSC downloads are CE conversions right now.

I'm a n00b so:

You make the map to CE, and convert it to PC, and then you just put it in the MAPS folder with no overwrite or something?

I'm pretty sure theres a copy of the xbox Magic convertor inside the 617squad forums. Conure has access, if you want to see a copy for "research purposes...."

Take a CE map, convert it to PC, then copy it into your maps folder and DO overwrite the one in there.

a good feature to include in feature releases is to NOT overwrite a pc map, but edit the pc ui.map to include the new ce map.

@Decoy, while using magic for research might be somewhat interesting, I really care more about how it works. Granted there's still alot to be learned from using it. I'll talk to conure.

@UntalkativeBunny, simple editing of the ui.map isn't going to allow you to play more maps (no the mply is not the way to do it, otherwise putting a map named bonus0.map with the internal name bonus0 would work). It's been pretty thoroughly researched by demo/trial modders trying to add more maps to their roster (and the ui.map even has the slots for it). Obviously worth some research but that's an entirely different field of halo hacking. Now maybe if someone's been able to do that before...

Wait, where does this program put all the sounds and bitmaps? In the map? Cool.

It actually keeps all of the internalized bitmaps and sounds by copying the entire raw section (which is where they are kept) into the new map. It's a nice shortcut for the semi-rebuild since I know that no changes to the bsp or models will take place during conversion. I was surprised to find that internalized bitmaps actually work with PC.
