[App] Halo CE Far Clipping Distance Fixer

Download

Well, after trying to make a five mile map and find that there is no way to set the rasterizer's far clipping distance - by scripts or commands - I had to resort to memory hacking. Thanks to Patrickssj6 and the Tsearch program, I was able to find the correct addresses for the far and near clipping distances in Halo and I wrote this program.

Instructions
Just start the program, start Halo, and when ingame press "M"

Best Used On
Any map larger than 1024 units, ie, Hugeass.
Warning: Does not work on Coldsnap because of all the fog. Turning off fog will allow you to see further, however.

Edit: Link fixed... We had to move the site to a new host, so the file got moved.

Funny thing is - Tiamat put the fog in there BECAUSE of the far clipping distance being as it was.

The link goes to a really messed up page.

Can't you just disable the fog with hmt/hht? If not, why not just swap the bitmap-or-whatever-it-is for fog with a transparent bitmap-or-whatever-it-is?

Refrain from spamming with smilies and exclamation marks. It doesn't get you more noticed, just ignored.

linkz work for me too. also how do you remove the fog on coldsnap and still be able to join games.. does it have too be exactly the same size down too the last bit?

It's a command under console. Though I'm not sure which one, I think it has to do with rasterize_fog or something.

Really nice app. I have to say, its extremely useful now that most people have graphics cards that can handle that much rendering smoothly.

I found a new link. I hope it's the same version as posted above.

EDIT: I just realised that this app won't run on my 64 bit Windows. Oh well. Would it be possible to compile a version for 64 bit FleetAdmiralBacon or is this asking too much?

Cheers.
