Adding Water
Written by Zone 117 of Team Remapped 5/27/07
Stuff Needed:
- Entity 1.3.9
- H2Core and H2Guerilla (H2C/H2G)
- A somewhat general knowledge of Halo 2 modding terms.
- The maps:
- Zanzibar map
- A multiplayer map
- Mainmenu.map
- Single_player_shared.map
- Shared.map
Information:
- This way of adding water uses H2C and H2G to decompile, add the water, and rebuild. This way allows you to keep the same map you are modding, with all the spawns and everything normal. The other way uses Entity, and Detox's water tool to extract your maps bsp, add water, then rebuild the bsp into a new, bigger map, losing all your mods on your map, and you have to re-set the spawns onto the new map from your old one.
- You need a decent computer for this, H2C really needs a lot of ram. The better the computer, the faster. (Don

Nice Tutorial. If only it had pictures. Then again its pretty straight forward. But you know, images is the extra kick in a tutorial.

I don't have enough time to post in all tutorials, but I'm going to say they look great. Awesome job.

i get to lockout and i'm about to start it ... and everything just locks up.. don't see the map..or anything..i'm pretty sure i followed every step correctly the only part i wasn't sure on was
Go to the "SBPS" tagclass, select the BSP you choose in Entity.
there was never a step where it told me to chose a BSP before this step?? so i just kinda pretended like that part wasn't there and just kept going...
wen i go to open the lockout.. thats wat i used..the lockout in the SBSP viewer it gives me a error.. continue or quit... ..does that help?? idk what to say..i just started messin around with this stuff again..after over a year and a half ... i even forgot how to use dothalo there for a lil bit hahah

yeh this tut was very very good and easy to follow but unfortunitly it didnt work for me.
i have windows vista.
i followed the hole tut all the way threw to rebuilding the map then, it said expection error. i was like owell means its probly done. then i try opening the map in entity and it wont open the map.....
is this because i am a vista user? becuase i followed ur tut exactly step by step.

You guys may need to try a different map.
What he meant by the bsp that you chose in entity is basically saying...whatever bsp you want to use as a base map.
Zone, I like the tutorial and it is well composed and detailed but IMO if I have to explain to somebody something that you should have in the tutorial...it's not so good. I'd edit that in when you get a chance, that way it's flawless

It just may be the way the programs handle certain maps. Seems as though some people have problems with certain maps...I've only run into one problem and that was during a bsp conversion for a buddy.

why dont u just use Detox's water tool, it is easier than using H2G and H2C?
