Team Colors

Post by kibito87 »

.:Changing Team Colors:.

Tools Needed:
Entity 1.3 Beta or later
Halo Color Picker

*Guide*

Opening the correct tag
1. Open up your map in Entity. Scroll down to the multiplayer globals tag. (mulg)
2. Click that once to open the reference editor. We want the meta editor so on the right side let's click the tools drop down box and hit the meta editor option.

Finding the reflexive to edit.
3. In the Middle window right at the top you should see Team Settings and then underneath that a little bit it says "Team colors".

Image

4. We want to change these to fit our personal preference.

Team Color Chunks *Organized*
5. I've taken the liberty to find out what each chunk's color is:

chunk0 = Red Team
chunk1 = Blue Team
chunk2 = Yellow Team
chunk3 = Green Team
chunk4 = Purple Team
chunk5 = Orange Team
chunk6 = Brown Team
chunk7 = Pink Team
chunk 8 = Grey Team (Not used Ingame)

6. Select which ever color chunk you would like to edit and select it.

Picking Colors.
7. Now in the Halo Color Picker hit the little button that says "Pick Color". This will bring up the standard color table. This way we can choose which color we want to swap the original colors with.

Image

8. So let's edit the red team color for instance. So let us choose chunk0.
9. We have 3 colors we need to edit to make another color:

Color Red - 0.756863
Color Green - 0.243137
Color Blue - 0.243137

Editing the Actual Team Color.
10. Say I wanted to change the Red color to white.
11. Since we have our Color Picker open, let's click the white palette.
12. The Halo Color Picker now shows me what the values are for this color.

Image

13. Now let's take these values and put them into where the decimals are for the Red Team color. (Highlighted in the red box in picture below.)

Image

Saving our Changes.
14. Now hit the save button. (Located in the blue highlighted area in above picture.)

Finished Product.
15. You now have a white team instead of red. You can do this to any of the normal team colors. Even make a black team!

It is expected, and demanded.

We always could. Theres an app somewhere that allows you to change single colors for FFA and stuff. Idk where it is...

If people would take a look at meta editor more often they would see that there's no need of all those mini-apps we saw in the past.
Meta editing.

Not everyone knows the things that others may. One of my objective's around here is to help the new comers and make them feel noticed. This includes making tutorials that don't require much knowledge of how to work anything. I welcome all, especially the people willing to learn and become knowledgeable in the subject matter, whether it be slightly or heavily.

There was a function for Team Colors in an application that did it for you. I think it was TheWandererLee's BSP Master had it.

Still though, good tutorial, could've been more neater/organized though(and by this I mean titled of steps in bold, underline, etc, what StalkingGrunt did for his later tutorials).

As per hinted by DetoX. I updated the tutorial. It includes bolded/underlined sub headings to each section that specify what you will be doing that in specific section. Also more color coordinated...

Now nobody should have a problem following it. It's got numbered steps, color coordination, bolded instructions, pictures and highlighted areas. That should be more than enough to for anyone to get this done. I'm surprised someone could get picky about it tbh...
