So, after not having played the game for months, I'm setting my dedicated server back up. If there's anyone who's been keep up with Gmod that can fill me in on a few things, that'd be great.
Stuff I don't get:
Space Build/Resource Distribution
Life Support
Wire Mod
There's some other stuff too, basically I just need help setting this up in general, if anyone has any experience, please, say so.

I'll play, but I haven't in months. Need to download everything first, since I've reformatted since I've played it. Don't know anything about the stuff you need, though, sorry.

I haven't been on in forever, but my buddy Black October has been building space stations over the last couple of days.. I'll see if I can get a hold of him for you.

Hey. This is Black October, Munsie sent me over here to answer some questions about Life Support, ect. Ill just go right down the list here.
SpaceBuild/ Resource Distribution - Spacebuild maps are maps in which there are many small planets, and a home planet where a player can survive. In space, there is no gravity or air. Different planets have different temperatures and climates, air pressures, ect to survive in. The idea is to make a ship that can withstand those climates, holding enough supplies to last you the trip through space, and also to make bases and supply outposts on other planets. Many people often make space stations and send them into Earth/Homeplanet orbit.
Life Support - Life support is a necesity in order to play in a spacebuild map or server. Life support gives you the models and items needed to create energy in various ways. On earth, you generally link a fusion reactor to some air compressors, along with some coolant compressors. You then link AAAAALL of that to a resource cache and slap on a supply connector (Gas pump). It is also important to get life support storage on your ship, so you can be supplied with air, energy, and engine/weapon coolant for your flight. It sounds complicated, but it's actually pretty easy.
Wire Mod - Possibly the hardest addon in Gmod to master. When you first download it, it will all look like gibberish. (Add, arithmetic gates, two way sound transmitters, ect) This addon, most commonly, is used to create artificial intelligence in a way. In example, say you wire a turret on a swivel mount, with a target finder and a laser finder, so it rotates around, and whenever anything breaks the motion laser finder, the gun turns and starts shooting. This can also be applied to make buttons that control thing. In spacebuild yesterday, I made a probe using Wire Mod that had a camera attached to it, linked up through radio transmitters to a control panel and a screen, so I could fly the probe to planets remotely without me being on board. It's something you can't just jump in to. I would recommend visiting
http://trickystutorials.com which is a wonderful site for wire, ect, and Tricky, the guy who runs it, is often on one of his many servers helping people out.
I hope this has helped you out some. You can add my Steam ID, which is "chris.muhney" if you have any further questions.
Later, and I hope you get into SpaceBuild, it's a LOT of fun!

Okay, so I've figured out Life Support/Space Build for the most part, but I don't know how to make much of anything. I can create fusion generator and other stuff, but I still don't know how to wire them to thrusters and stuff.
I've also got my server set-up and am testing it in a bit; if anyone wants to join, look for Animal Jihad in the serve list. It won't be up for a little while yet though.

I edited my last post with a link dawg; noticed you were having some trouble joining and forgot the map was too big for download from the server.

Thanks, missed the edit, I guess. I'll see if I can connect after that.

You should be able to, but you might not be able to see some models. There's an addon to fix most of them (all except one add-on I have on the server, I think) here:
Part 1:
http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=27355
Part 2:
http://www.garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=27356
It's pretty big, but it's a fast download. (~60MB per part)

Ok, once the load screen went away, hl2.exe crashed. I think it might be a driver problem. I'll try to figure it out.

The server's down for the time being, I probably won't have it back up for a little while, what with the holidays and all. But you're welcome to play anytime I've got it running/

It was removed because the guy who made the Stargate mod is apparently a whiny bitch. :\ I reupload it somewhere if anyone has a private hosting site or something.
