Need For Speed: Carbon

Post by V0Lt4Ge »

It's a super-dooper racing game. Although it does use the same engine as NFS: Most Wanted, It's still very fun. I suggest that anyone who likes racing games at least rents it.

One thing that I didn't expect is that the actually character models (or at least their faces) were done exceptionally well. They look very realistic.

My career car is a red chrome 2004 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren. :P

Same. I wish they would go back to the exotics instead of Civics and stuff. After Underground 2, the series just got stale

I just got NFS: MW and I am already bored with it (thank goodness I didn't get the Black edition or I would have wasted even more money)

I haven't tried Carbon yet, but the Autosculpt(?) feature looks cool

I really like NFS Most Wanted But I generally don't like racing games, but I am thinking about buying MW.

But the carbon demo wasn't that great, and I really just like running from the cops.
My real name is a Mammoth, if someone who cares sees this, please change my name to a Mammoth

They added a ton of other cars. The Hemi Cuda,(^_^),3 Different kinds of Mustang, Chalenger, (Concept and classic), Camarro,(SS and Concept), 300C, Jaguar XK(My Career Car for Tier 2), Koenigsegg CCX, All the cop cars, 2 kinds of Murcielago, Gallardo, a grip of Porsches, and a lot of Mercedes's. Plus, all the Exotic cars from MW are there, minus the Cobalt, and the Fiat Punto. Not to mention, the Challenges are back, and get to race some cool cars like the roadrunner, Cross's Z06, and the Dumptruck, and unlock all the police cars.

Now I want the game. I do like racing games, but I don't play them often, since I don't have a racing wheel and controlling with thumbsticks is a pain sometimes. I do like that they finally added police cars to the series. Makes the game a little more challenging, and also adds to the realism with the legality stuff. I wanted cop cars back in the Underground series for a long time and finally they put them in.

The Colbalt is my career car for MW.

One thing that's both awesome and challenging is the canyon races. The object of the game is to stay as close as you can behind your opponent on a long, winding canyon road. The closer you are the more points you gather, but you lose points of you hit them. Then you both switch roles, and you have to pull away from your opponent and stay as far away as possible.

Probably the most annoying part is that the winding turns are reinforced, so if you go down a turn to fast you'll fly off the edge and lose. Can't tell you how many times I had to restart a race because of that. >_<

Plus, the Challenge mode forces you tyo play every aspect of the game to get 100%. For Example, the Arcade Level X cards can only be attained through racing X amounts of time in singleplayer, and some make you play online, like one of the cards is to race and beat an EA Moderator in a ranked race. All the cars in Challenge mode are unplayable in Carreer Except the Jaguar XK(Tier 2 Exotic), 240 SX(tier 1 Tuner) and another car, I am yet to unlock. but if you do do the stipulations before the Career mode ends, you can unlock the bothCivic Cruisers, Both State Pirsuit Cars, Federal Chase cars, light and Heavy SUV's and Cross's Corvette Z06.

btw for the topic starter the in the story cinematics the characters are real, its a mix of live action and cg.

i think carbon is actually the best in the series so far imo. it mixes the best elements of all the games so far and actually has a point/story to it rather than the generic "new guy in town" type that we see in UG and MW.

yeah, but the point of Pursuits were completely avoidable, and there weren't many straights you could take advantage of the drafting option, and the lead car always drove like it was on a rail, and when it crashed, it would just be done and slow waay down. But there were ways to take advantage of the guys. If you were in 2nd, and lead car was far away, you could press that button, and they Immedately catch up, and even pass the guy for the win.

The pursuits were tacked on completely. they were avoidable. the whole click and point navigation to hop race to race made the pursuits useless.

If you like racing games, buy this.

If you're not a big fan of racing games, but play them every once in a while, rent it first.
