Whatever you do, DO NOT use Paragon Partition Manager. It install a glitchy boot screen that prompts you to select a drive when you start you computer. The thing is, once you click something, nothing happens... You have to pop in your OS CD to restore the system.

You shouldn't need to install any partition software, Windows has the capability of doing it natively.

I'm aware of that but my computer won't allow me to shrink the size of my C: drive because of "snapshots and pagefiles"...whatever that means

Disable those features then...

It's cause there non removal crap at the end of the drive or something, it's a common cause of gayness. MAYBE gparted will be able to do it, but if you're desperate, you can just grab a 40 gig harddrive from the store lol.
Edit: Found a solution.
1. Disable hibernation and/or pagefile, google it if you don't know how
2. Shrink the partition.
3. Re-enable hibernation and/or pagefile.

I keep getting the same issue as you. Try using a third part partitioning software.

To Split your Harddrive, I would HIGHLY Recommend Acronis.

Also on another note, I have a VMWare image of Windows 7 Beta (7000) without a CD-Key/Activated. So if you have your own CD-Key I am willing to upload.

I just said not to use that one program. It can mess up your PC. I'm sure there are other programs that will work fine. Windows can do it, but you apparently need a ridiculous amount of free space for it to work.

Windows Partition Manager cannot always shrink your harddrive. I have a 250GB in my laptop and it said I couldent even shrink it by 2MB.

Acronis DD worked fine.

Because of files sitting at the end of the table.
If you want to do it safely and cleanly, remove those files (usually snapshots(restore points)), and do it with the integrated feature.
