Fuel economy, Xbox huge, live axle. That's three.

Let me preface this whole thing by telling you that it seems rather silly to buy a car new for your first. But, whatever...
guysullavin wrote:there is no *** way i'm getting near a yaris or a corolla
The new Corolla is very nice. :/
guysullavin wrote:as for ford.... no...
You can probably wait for the upcoming version of the Fiesta that'll be very similar worldwide.

I would really look into buying a used car. You'll probably find ones that are more fun to drive, and *gasp* you might be force to work on it yourself! It's great fun to mess around with a car without having to worry about warranties or those pesky safety features in new cars.
Also, if Top Gear has influenced you to lean toward a Lancer, then lol.
The base Lancer is a regular economy car, exactly like the Corolla, Yaris, Civic, etc.

The '05 GT gets 28 mpg city.
The 2010 GT is pretty much a luxury car with the body of a muscle car.

well, i've been told that its much easier and safer, and if i work for it it'll amke me feel happier for doing so, plus i've got absolutely rubbish luck with used items in general, so i'll stick with new.
so Heres my list of entry level vehicles that i might look into, note all prices are "starting at"
  • VW City Jetta: $16,900
    VW Rabbit: $19,975
    Chevy Cobalt: $15,325
    Dodge Calibur: $15,995
    Honda Civic: $16,990
    Mitsubishi Lancer: $16,598
    Toyota Matrix: $15,975
    Nissan Sentra: $14,998
    Ford Focus: $14,999
i want to see what people suggest from that, PM me your vote, its not actually going to be the deciding factor, i'm just curious.

How the fuck can you be bothered? I would have been ecstatic to have any new car as my first, not that I would have agreed it was a good idea to have a new car as a first.

Alright then.
Rare for me to see someone with a large-engined car get any decent mileage, since they feel the need to stomp on the gas all the time. Hats off, good sir!

My other points still stand. :P

The smaller 4.6 does grant a bit better fuel economy than the old 5.0 like in my old 94. But you'd be lucky getting mid to high 20's going down a hill with a tailwind.

I am not a reckless driver, and I re-tuned the car to run off of super, not regular.

Think about how many "large-engined" Musntags you actually see...
Now think about how many spoiled high school kids drive around in their V6 models not knowing better.
The 2010 GT is pretty much a luxury car with the body of a muscle car.
Ahahaha
I'm going to assume you're joking considering damn near the entirety of every automobile enthusiast community and TV program would disagree.
American made automobiles have absolutely horrid interiors.
An Audi that would typically go for ~$45,000 less than an American car superior would still have a far, far better interior. Hands down.
They couldn't even manage a proper interior on the mythical Ford GT.

I'm not talking about the standard interior, I mean the interior upgrade package with leather seats, MyColor dashboard, In-Built GPS with a 10" screen that also has bluetooth and music capabilities, bucket seats, and soft touch plastic paint.
And by GT I mean the Mustang GT, the Ford GT stopped production in '06, I believe.

But I'm probably in the small percentage of people that still prefer an American muscle car over a tuner car (I include BMWs under tuners/ricers.) or a ricer.

/end my part in discussion

I love aftermarket modified German cars. The Brabus Bullit in flat black looks fantastic.
Veegie wrote:Now think about how many spoiled high school kids drive around in their V6 models not knowing better.
This is also true. One kid at my school was talking about his "sweet superfast Mustang" and getting 30+ MPG, but it was the four cylinder Fox body.

The ZR1 looks boring on the inside, as well...my friend's Cobalt has the same steering wheel, but with a Chevy badge instead. Yippee.

Shelby = tuner car btw

That's exactly my point.
They couldn't even give one of their greatest cars ever made a proper interior.
Seems you completely missed that.

Fiat getting 35% of Chrysler, Y/N?

Also, Taurus: http://jalopnik.com/photogallery/2010fordtauruspress/
I like it, along with the new Fusion. It looks like it took some influences from the Mondeo and Euro Fords in general. A big step up.
