My Dilemma

Post by Andrew_b »

Well, if you didn't know, the economy is crap right now, which means my family doesn't have a lot of extra cash. I want two things for Christmas but they said to expect one. I've always wanted a gaming computer, which I can finally get, but then again, I've been wanting some more cymbals and maybe a couple more toms. I'm just confused with what to ask for. Yes, I know, it's only November, but this has been on my mind a lot lately. Any help?

Go with which ever hobby you spend more of your time doing. That way, their present to you will be put to more use.

In an effort to help you attain both gifts...

What is the approximate price that your parents will spend on the gaming computer[including all hardware, software(i.e. Windows Vista), and shipping/handling costs]?

What is the approximate price of the "couple of cymbals and toms"(all possible prices included)?

The drums probably aren't as expensive (nicer for parents), fuels your hobby and you can get better at them.

The computer will help your nerdiness, playing games and stuff, but if you've got a console like ps3 or 360 or even wii, do you really need a new computer?

Exactly. Make sure they're a good model.. I got drums for christmas one year, and they sound like absolute crap. They're good for practicing, but that's it. It'd be like buying a computer with outdated crap that won't run anything.

Drums are really fun, but if you're anything like me, you'll loose interest in them as soon as you get decent at them. You'd have to be really dedicated to keep it up; in my opinion, they get pretty boring after a while. Especially since my more music oriented time is during the night, so I could never play them.
As for the gaming computer, it'd provide all around entertainment for quite some time, and you don't have a time limit to which you could play on it.

But it's up to you.

i would say actually go with drums.
im sorry, but as much as the computer is fun, its just not as cool as it used to be for me, and soon your going to realize what a nerd you are and feel like just throwing everything in the trash and curling up in a ball.
i sorta realized what a nerd i am, that's why i don't spend all my time on the compy and actually have a life now, I've got a girlfriend, and some sweet-ass friends.
thats just my opinion, and i think eventually everyone will realize that they are nerds, i did, and i admit it, but I'm changing. :P

Good Luck with your decision.

What's with all this nerd crap? Haha. Well the computer I was looking at was this: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 8013704514
My parents said they could get me that.

My current drum set is a premier. It's quite old and its used. I tape paper towels on the faces to stop the damn humming. About drums, I'm completely clueless with what to look for. I really just know how to play them. ( ). I know zildjan, is a good cymbal company, but I just don't know about the actual drums. Maybe pearl or something.

Yes. I'm surprised you haven't learned about that considering the amount of "I NEED HALP WITH PC PARTS" threads here.

Go with the drums. Computers go out of date every year or two, but if you get a good set and maintain it well, they last forever.

I dunno. They cooked Travis Barker well-done, and I know a handful of chicks that'd still hit that.
