Sounds good. go with it. For Uni though, for certain get a good sized External Memory device. My 4 GB Flash drives have been a godsend in High School, I could imagine it'd be better in Uni.

The Apple displays are beautiful but are way too overpriced IMO. I'd say that Samsung looks pretty good or maybe a Dell. Dell has some awesome, inexpensive monitors.

I can vouch for Samsung...I've had a 22 inch monitor (and a 42 inch HDTV) from them for a little over a year now and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever.

Apple displays are by far my favorite, but I can't deny they're considerably overpriced. I'd probably never buy one.
I want a new monitor...

Maybe if I get a job.

I'd get a 24", just for the 1920x1200 (or 1080) resolution.

Oddly enough you're looking for monitors. I got about 10 Viewsonic VG2230wm monitors sitting in the living room right now.

just go oldschool with CRT. got my 21" CRT for free from a relative, so it'd be easy to find one for cheap.
plus, mine says "low radiation" in the top-right corner.

The problem with a CRT is the footprint. Which is kind of an issue in a dorm heh...

yeah i wouldn't advise CRT screens that have "radiation" Try Dell b/c they make expensivish-cheepish (a range) of LCD's that go from 17" up to 30" (or the curved alienware display, but thats just me
