You can put your own skins into your own maps, but I believe that there is the checksum problem for the normal maps.

Well, that's what I was worried about. I meant, is it possible for me to have a custom set of textures (IE, the Halo 2 armor, or the P-40 Banshee) without the host server needing the same textures? Because I heard a checksum makes sure your map exactly matches the host map to avoid people crashing from joining user-made maps that they don't have...

Well on CE you cant join a game if you dont have that map in ur maps folder. so i dont really see a problem except importing it.

I noticed that the bitmaps.map file for CE is a lot smaller than it is on regular Halo. Does this mean that the bitmaps are self-contained in the maps themselves, the way models are in regular Halo?
Also, I tried editing a map in HMT by changing the headers so that the CE version of bloodgulch.map could be opened with HMT. But everytime I tried editing a texture, HMT crashed. How do I inject the textures I want?
