When you convert a map people usually say it is better to replace a crap map (chiron?) so that you don't make people choose between your map and another good map. But its usually easier to replace a map with vehicles for example like Bloodgulch.... so what you can do is this:

Convert the map you want replacing bloodgulch for example. Then say you have decided you want to replace wizard for your final map because that is not a very popular map. Rename your converted map from bloodgulch.map to wizard.map, then open up the new wizard.map and replace the string "bloodgulch" at 0x20 with "wizard" remembering to null out any leftoever= characters from the old name.

PS I reccomend only the makers of the conversions do this as if people have different maps replaced for the same conversion they will not be able to play over the net.

I wouldn't go on whats considered crap, because for the most part I see maps like BG being played....I mean this might leave me right open to flames from BG haters, but what the hell...I'm going on what seems to be least played...I don't see many people playing Longest, so thats what I'll use as a base map I think...I don't need vehicles and that map contains the best laid out and more or less level items, easier to migrate into new BSPs (that don't use vehicles anyways) :D

So what.... its not like a mod server is going to play a non modded one!

Well it means they can leave the conversions installed and still play on their popular non-converted maps on public servers, and also hopefully soon someone will set up a server with a converted map rotation.

Like a30_1 then a30_b! Ohh by the way im doing a10_b and a10_a has just been finshed by some other guy. Mine should go good in a map pack with his.
