Halo, The Thing, whatever

Halo all,


Im currently in the learning stage for Modding, and have just mastered the use of Alien Vs Predator 2 modding with Dedit. I am interested in making a The Thing Mod. Since Halo is so perfect as far a The Thing mod goes,(keep in mind Halo doesnt have a modding tool)I figured I would use it. However I do need to know if the halo modding tools can do some things...


1.Random events, lots and lots of random events.

2.Heavy Model Editing.

3.Using randomly generated limbs to create completly different looking, and different sized Flood.

4.The ability to incorprate The trust fear and eternal darknesses insanity effect into the game.

5.Cutscenes

6.Dialouge

7.New modified weapons

8.The Ability to heavily interact and give things to marines.

And many more

I wouldn't count on much more feedback than you got over at halo-mods on this topic. A lot of the stuff you want to do is very much impossible at this point in time.

I haven't heard much about it recently. It was previously expected in mid-January, which we're now obviously done with. I believe I read that it got pushed back so they could add lots more features.

Anyway, the wait shouldn't be TOO much longer. That's an educated guess mixed with optimism. Browse here and the front page at halo.bungie.org and you'll hear about it as soon as everyone else does. HOWEVER, I doubt that even the Gearbox kit will allow you to do what you're after. Some of the stuff you want to do involves changing the game engine itself. Not gonna happen.

unless you magically find some super-magical-modding program
