I'm new here... and some help on model swapping in hex...

Hi there, I've had halo for ages but never really considered modding, especially since it voided your xbox warantee. But hey, now that HPC's out... Anyway, you may or may not recognise me from HBO.
Well, I just started today on the whole modding thing. To be precise, I kicked off with Lax's Elite body swapping guide. More on that later. Then, I went to Hex basics 101. Pretty simple stuff when you think about it.
The one problem is that I tried to download Break Point's Hex workshop but the download took ten minutes and on the last few seconds it reset so you can imagine how frustrated I was having to use the plain HexEditor.
Anyway, the main problem is that when I try swapping the cyborg model with the elite model in SC, I have this little problem.
I don't know if this makes a difference, but with Iron Forge's Offset retail guide, he lists the last letter of every offset in certain levels different from the rest. different for every few levels.
Eg= In PoA, ieach offset would end like this: ******1, AotCR: *******0, and so on with a different ending number every level if you get what I mean. The thing is that it doesn't make a difference in HexEditor. In every level, it has the same ending offset: 0. No matter what the level. Strange.
Anyway, when I fire up the silent cartographer or whatever other level I've modified, the game crashes and this error message comes up:
We have detected one or more of the Halo PC files has been corrupted or removed. Please remove or reinstall the game.
Now, I know like any smart person if I put back the original map, the problem goes away and I don't have to reinstall halo. So, what the hell is going on?
