Start with HMT 3.5 and Sparkedit which you can get Here. And then read the sticky's that are above this post and in the files forums and you will be up and running on your own steam in no time.

ok normally files that are too big are compressed (made smaller) by using a program to do it. the program compresses them into 1 file. there are 2 well known programs that do it
winrar
winzip
the difference is that winrar first is free and winzip is only a trial .
winrar can make and open both
winzip can make just .zip and open .rar (ill have to check opening rar out)
so you download winrar to either make compressed files or to open them
STARTING TO MOD:
ok there are maps in your halo folder and they say things like bloodgulch.map timberland.map and so on. you donwload 2 tools to edit these
hmt 3.5
sparkedit (cant remember version)
or hht is optional
use hmt first to open a map file.
there are loads of lists on the left so scroll down and click the weapons tab. (the cross beside it) and it should show u a list of weapons. dont pay attention to the bit on the left other then to see if its a vehicle weapon or a weapon weapon. now click a weapon and on the right an area comes up that has all the information about but you may see that some of the boxes are blank and some of the drop down lists have nothing in them so click the drop down list and chose 0 and everthing will show up
if u want more help ill post more but just edit a few things for now and mess around

ok basicly go to www.levels4you.com and go to halo .nobody can tell you how to dowload a rar file cus its just the same as downloading ne normal file.... ne way go there for halo mods

Hey i got winrar and it works i just wanted sum1 to make me one now i will try i want it for halo ceok sry but lets keep this going cause i stilll need help.

Go to the files forum. look for "DECOYS n00b friendly mod"
Download it. You dont need CE, you dont need to "patch Halo" or anything. This mod is a specific tweak set that anyone who joins your game can access, without having a copy of the modded map too.
It comes with very detailed instructions, and pics!
Download it, play it and then open it with HMT and use the swapped values to start your own mod. PM me when your ready and I'll send you a text file with details on what has been changed where, and how to change more stuff if you want.
