another idiot seeking help

Post by Zededarian »

I'm probably missing something obvious, but I'm trying to PMI a pelican into bllodgulch like in a tutorial I read on this site. As you probably guessed, it's not working. Here's a list of exactly what i did, could somebody see what I missed?

1-opened up b40 (assault on the controll room) and recursively extracted pelican.vehi.meta and pelican.mod2.meta to C:\PelicanInBG\pelicanmeta

2-generated a raw CSV file from b40 and extracted the raw model vehicles\pelican to c:\pelicaninbg\pelicanmeta\vehicles\pelican

3-opened up bloodgulch in HMT and batch extracted it into C:\PelicaninBG\BGbatch after checking textures, sounds, and meta and saying yes to extract BSP

4-went to tools, extract, and bsp/model selections then extracted the files to C:\PelicaninBG\BGvertindi

5-used the model decrapper, for model I loaded C:\pelicaninbg\pelicanmeta\pelican.mod2.meta, for the existing vertex, indices, and bsp areas I chose the ones named bloodgulch in C:\PelicaninBG\BGvertindi

6-placed a valid bloodgulch.map file into C:\PelicaninBG along with all the files in all the other folders in C:\PelicaninBG and rebuilt the map, choosing bloodgulch.map in C:\PelicaninBG as my original file and letting it auto fill in the blanks. There were no errors, so I assume all the file paths are correct. For extra files I chose C:\Pelicaninbg\vehicles\pelican\pelican.mod2.meta and C:\Pelicaninbg\vehicles\pelican\pelican.vehi.meta, then rebuilt the map. When it asked if I had changed the number of vertexes, I chose yes and chose blooldgulch.vertecis.new as my new vertices file. when it asked if I had changed the number of indicies I chose yes and shose bloodgulch.indices.new as my new indices file. When it asked if I wanted to use the new start offset I pressed yes.

7-I took the new bloodgulch.map.rebuild.map and moved it into C:\Program files\Microsoft games\halo\MAPS, and changed its name to bloodgulch after backing up and deleting the old bloodgulch.map

8-I got an exeption error when i tried to play a HOST, not join, a game in bloodgulch and then halo crashed

Any help would be greatly appreciated, from minor flaws to huge gaps in logic. Also, if anybody already has a bloodgulch.map file with the pelican in it, could you send it to me?

i think you may have missed out the step of copying the .sbsp file after the decrapping.

not sure though.

first of all, I want the pelicans because they're cool. Second of all, yes, I added the sbsp.

after decrapping, there should be .indecies.new, .verticies.new .sbsp and .sbsp.meta i think

something like that. As I said before, its a few months since i modded, so i'm a bit rusty on the details.
