OK. I had recently emailed the Microsoft halo pc Tech Support asking them for a new CD Key cause i lost mine.

The returned email told me i had to pay $10 for a new key. Well screw that, i just returned to the Tech support people again and started a chat session. I was hoping to get a different person for different results.

Unfortunatly it was the same guy and he dug up info about the Email address i gave him. He figured out i already emailed them so then i started to pose as my dad.

I guess he had important stuff to do so he just gave me A FREE COPY OF HALO

The guy emailed me the reciept, and the entire chat session so if u want to see how i did it, i can post it for u.

btw: i really did buy a copy of halo and lost the CD key. (I know what some of you are thinking)

ok. here comes. ITs in 2 parts. the email and then the chat.

Hello loozer,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Support.

My name is Shital and I will be helping you with Halo: Combat Evolved for Win.

As I understand, you have misplaced the product key for the game. You wish to have new product key. If I have misunderstood the issue, please let me know.

I sincerely understand the inconvenience caused to you because of this issue. Please be assured that I will do my best to resolve this issue.

When the game installation starts, the Setup program asks the user for the product key. After the user enters the product key, the key is verified against a copy encoded on the disk and the installation proceeds only if the key is validated.

The idea behind such a set up is to make sure that only users who have purchased the game may be able to install it using the game disk therefore making disk duplication ineffective. As this is an anti-piracy measure, retrieving the product key from either the game installation or the disk would defeat the purpose.

Microsoft Games Technical Support is available to help you resolve technical problems with Setup, errors encountered when you start or play the game, display or sound issues.

At this point of time, we have the following options:

- Contact our Microsoft Customer Central Support to obtain a new CD key generated

Please contact the Microsoft Customer Central Support to obtain a new product key. Customer Service Representative will try to generate a generic Product Key. If the key works, there will be a charge of 10 dollars similar to the way how nominal fee is involved if we misplace our driver license.

To contact Microsoft Customer Central Support and receive new key, follow these steps:

---------------------------------------------------------------

1. Call 1-800-936-5700

2. Wait on the line until you are presented with new options

3. Press 0 (zero) to speak to a Customer Service Representative

4. The Customer Service Representative will inform regarding key generator limits in addition to the surcharge for getting a new key generated.

Hope the above information helps.

I am looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Shital Edwankar
