Ok, I want to get into the Halo XBOX modding scene...

Well, I know there have been many posts by n00bs asking where to start and how to mod XBOX, but I'm here to ask around at prices for modchips, where to buy, and generally if I want to get into the scene. I searched Google, and came to this American XBOX modchips place. The Xecuter Pro modchip (said it was the best one) was $41. The Xecuter Lite was $31.
Are these decent prices? And if so, which modchip should I buy?
I know I'm a n00b and all but bear with my questions (there are a lot of them) and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hm... 302 posts later you're finally asking this? Interesting. Those prices seem about right. Another good modchip to look at is called the Chameleon.
http://www.xbox-scene.com has a good comparison of modchips.

Thanks.
I just don't know if it's worth $40 to do something I can do on PC. Although the lack of height barrier is cool... Plus with the modchip I can burn games, right?

You could burn games right now if you wanted to. You need a mod chip to load them up.

I have another annoying question: is there any difference in modding NTSC Halo and modding PAL Halo? I have NTSC (at least it says NTSC on the game disc).

NTSC - Western Hemisphere
PAL - Eastern Hemisphere

Yes, there is a rather big difference between the two...when hex editing, PAL and NTSC have different offsets, and as most people have the NTSC version of Halo, unlucky people with the PAL version, like me...don't get many mods, so we have to make our own to entertain ourselves...

www.modchipman.com Get the XBIT, it is a 2MB, USB flashable Mod chip. Super easy AND STABLE pogo install, so no risking fuggin up your motherboard soldering d0. I have traveled with mine and bounced it pretty good with no stability issues as mentioned with other pogo installs.
The USB flashing is a real bonus as no more worries about bad/failed flashes, plus you get all 2mb for different BIOS.
I had mine installed in 30min from start and then another 1-2hrs to get Dash installed, original HDD backed up and new HDD installed, and I did not know what I was doing..
