I just need ONE PERSON to explain from start to finish how to put a mod chip in (including all the software that makes it run) succesfuly, before I can do anything fun!!
I apreciate everyone trying to help, but everywhere I turn there's new software, download this, move that, yada, yada, yada!

um head over to http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php check the noob tut and on the main page check the tuts on installing everysingle mod chip ever

first of all i would get the chip from system mod technologies, check their website. Then get the newest xecuter mod chip. Now u have 2 choices you can get one that you have to solder on to the main board of get one that you need to just screw onto the main board(very very reccomended to get the screw on unless u have soldering skills, if u don't u will prob ruin the system). Now once u get the chip open ur xbox all up and screw it down check installation on the the website if u on't know where it goes. The green led light will light up if it is installed properly i reccomend having the system on while u align the chip because it even more of a pain with it off. Now to use the special dashboards like evox and stuff u must first flash the bios with a new type example: xecuter bios 4983 of something else. If the mod chip is installed properly then ur cd tray will eject as soon as u turn the system on then it will ask u for the cd with the bios on it, the bios must be named bios.bin then flick the switch on the mod chip to unprotected and flash away.

This is so frigin complicated, honestly, wtf does xecutor to or how ever you spell it! Flash the bios... where do i flash the bios? and how do i do it with that xecuter shit! like this is the shit i need help with, i am a super n00b, like the biggest n00b in the world, you'll have to explain every f'ed up program that i need, WORD BY WORD.
I'm not fliping on any of you, it's just that so many people have said the right things, but it just dosn't answer my question, what does xecuter do, whee do i flash my bios...trust me people...WORD FOR WORD

lol well maybe you can help me with hmt, but back to the mod chip. Now if u go to the website i told u they have mod chips the majority of people like the xecuter brand of mod chip. Now once u get the chip u simply screw it onto the main board of the xbox(instruction are on the website systemmodtecnologies.com. Once the chip is in ur xbox and installed properly when u turn on the xbox the drive will eject and then it will ask u for the disc with the bios on it. For legal reasons the xecuter chip come preflashed with cromewell bios for linux(if u want linux of ur xbox but for what u want u dont). Flashing bios is the act of simply putting bios on to a chip. Ok so now the chip will want the bios, u will see a screen asking for it. I will explain the rest when u understand this. Just ask if u need help i will keep checking this post. Lmao, I appreciate all of this, but the part I realized I was confused about was the fact that everyone was talkin about puttin a new bios on a disc, but the part I was consused about was that i got an X-B.I.T. and those have a direct connection to the PC and the xbox via USB, so I can loaad BIOS without CD's.
Samething with my mods, ALL THROUGH MY USB

i know how to install the chip but how do you put in evox. Do you just put in a disc after you install the chip. Where do you get the disc( i read all of your previous conversation incase your wondering why i randomly joined the conversation)

Ok, first of all, this should go in the xbox modding forums not the editing forums.

Secondly, yes you can put evox on a disc and install it on the hdd. If you can set up an ftp connection between your xbox and PC, then you don't need to burn evox on a cd. Evox was built with the XDK and so is illegal to d-load. But you can get it from the "usual places". Don't ask where they are. Do a google search.
