How are you managing your map files?

Post by jedi0 »

OK, so I've got all these nifty BG mods that are all "cache003.map" files.

Is there an xbox prog out there that can manage them or is everyone repeating these steps every time they want to play a different mod?

1. FTP cache file to pc
2. apply PPF
3. FTP cache file back to xbox
4. PLAY

I think the majority of people with lack of space are turning them to patches with a patch maker, or so they can put it online, but I can't get a patchmaker that opens so tough luck for me.

EDIT: Oh if your not making your own mods than you alread have a ppf of the mod, I was saying if you make a mod you can make a ppf of it.
What is real in our infinite alternating perception of reality?

Yeah, I see your point. Space is not an issue for me though.

If only HCE would read cache files from alternate folders and let you choose which one to start the game with!

well with HCE just ppf ur cache files and then send the ppfs over to ur xbox in the right folder and ther eu have it patch from there, and also unpatch from there but it will start up halo and u'll have to select a level again of course, but at least u dont have to go into game demos and what not.

I use AVALAUNCH dash which has a built in file manager.

With that I made a MODS folder in my Halo directory, then subfolders under that (named for thr mod installed) with a cache003.map in each. I then use file manager to copy it to the Y drive when ready..
