Nah, it looks okay, could stand to use a little less in detail, unless this turrent is massive, and noticed more then the turret on the warthog.

massive poly waste. those plates don't have to be the same mesh as the barrels; they can intersect.

Not if you don't want a higher chance of overlapping faces.
All things considered it is a decent model.

Vertices: 690
Faces: 1416
Polys: 514
New Model:
Vertices: 397
Faces: 706
Polys: 219
