Nah, it looks okay, could stand to use a little less in detail, unless this turrent is massive, and noticed more then the turret on the warthog. ;)

massive poly waste. those plates don't have to be the same mesh as the barrels; they can intersect.

Not if you don't want a higher chance of overlapping faces.
All things considered it is a decent model.

Ok...I did what snaf said.

Old model:
Vertices: 690
Faces: 1416
Polys: 514

New Model:
Vertices: 397
Faces: 706
Polys: 219
