well, its not nearly done.

And good map makers know "never give a release date" because if you miss it, people get pissed.

Yeah, I've planned it out completely so actually building the level won't take long. When it comes to what I have planned for the lighting and specular stuff, I honestly have no idea how long it will take. It could run faster than I expected, in which case I'll insert more polygons to make it look even better. Or it could run slower than I want. I hope that doesn't happen.

A small update for today. The roof is on, the pews are all in, the upstairs section is more realistic and less 'corridor-like' and some basic windows have been put in.

I've also made some steps leading up to a dais at one end of the main room, but I need to redo them, cos the Chief does an idiotic dance up them instead of a normal run (I'll halve the number of steps and insert a clipping field so he goes up them smoothly).

THESE TEXTURES ARE ONLY TEMPORARY!

guessing too much of an early stage. But he probably already has people in mind to help (if any).

Update looks good, can't wait to see it with some kick-ass bumpmapping

I'm still here, but I haven't had much time to work on it this week. I have found and converted some nice textures though and have made some of the bump maps to go with them. Here's a couple of them in action, in what will become the red flag room:

Church Dynamic Lights Movie (900Kb)

Above is a link to small movie showing off the new dynamic lights. I'm happy with how they look and work now and as long as the portalling of the level is good there is only a minor fps hit when using multiple lights.

Honestly, the picture below doesn't do them justice, get the movie!

The floor texture was a ready made texture, so I only had to change the size and colour to fit in. The wall texture was a massive photograph of a real wall that I had to cut, change the perspective of, resize and recolour, and then make tileable (so that the edges match when you repeat the texture). That took a while.

Bump maps are odd to make and the amount of time varies wildly depending on the texture. The floor texture was easy and only took about 5-10 mins. The wall took about one and a half hours. :?
