Yes, ms3d is very popular tool, not for modelling, but for stuff like getting models in games and exporting them from games so on, although people do model with it, or edit models. Blender isnt as popular. I use 3ds max 6 for modelling, it costs, but if you dont wanna pay it get gmax. (gmax is free)

Heh, maybe, find some tutorials which can be mostly used for it at sonictag.fortresshalo.com .

If you need an activation key thingy because it can take a while to send, i have a spare one and it might work for you.

you gotta register and it sends u 1 in ur email for gmax. It can take a long time to send. You will see when you try to run gmax. You should also delete your topic you made named "um...."

Put it into your C:\Gmax\Plugins folder, if there isnt one there then make one. Then after you can open up gmax and go to File - Import and you will be able to change the file type thing to .obj and import obj files.

It should work, or you downloaded an exporter instead of an importer.

Since this topic is about that pluging I have a question, this site http://www.gmaxsupport.com/html/download.asp is the only one I have found that I do not need to sign up for or gives me the old 404 error, however when I download the IMPORTER,its a MS File...what gives,I extracted it using winrar to Gmax/Plugins but somethin about that still doesnt work.

You guys dont look very far.

http://www.freewebs.com/gmp_gmp/importobj.zip

To install the scripts, just follow these simple steps:

(1) Copy the MAXScript into your gmax\scripts\startup directory.
For example, if you have installed gmax in c:\gmax then copy the script
into c:\gmax\scripts\startup

(2) Run/Restart gmax

(3) Go to the utilities tab (the one with the hammer icon) and click on the
MAXScript button

(4) Find the 'Utilities' drop down list and you should see the name of your
newly installed script (eg. 3DS Import). Select the script and you should
see a new rollout appear above or below the MAXScript rollout. The script is
now ready for use.
