Okay, i learned all this stuff by messing around in Comp App (i have lots of free time in that class, and our school has Photoshop CS)
----------
Fun With Lens Flares
Do steps 1, 2, and 3 before choosing a path below
step 1: Open a new file (I used 400x100 pixels)
step 2: Fill the background (i usually use a blue or teal, but it doesnt matter)
step 3: go to Filter>Render>Lens Flare and move the lens flare to any position (somewhere in the middle is good) and choose any of the lense flare types (i chose 105mm prime)
----This is where you can choose different paths
Path 1- Go to Filter>Render>Difference Clouds .
1a. go to Filter>Artistic>Plastic Wrap (use settings Highlight strength-15, detail-14, smoothness-12)
1b. Go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges
1c. press Ctrl+I
1d. Press ctrl+U, check the colorize box, slide the hue up (I did 55), and change the hue to your liking.
Path 2
2a. For this step, you must use a 50-300mm Zoom lens flare
2b. once you have your flare, do Filter>Distort>Ripple (330% is good)
2c. Filter>Artistic>Plastic Wrap (use settings from path 1, 1a)
2d. Filter>Stylize>Find Edges
2e. Ctrl+I
2f. Follow step 1d
---------
Those are the only 'paths' i posted cuz i encourage u guys to mess around with lens flares more. Here is something i made from the tut. Remember: you may do more than one lens flare.

I have Photoshop at my school too. I think it's CS, but I wouldn't know. The computers suck so much they can barely open Photoshop without crashing.
