There's significant aliasing on the blades.

That is probably because I used the selection tools to make it.
Don't forget that this project is mostly for me to get used to photoshop from using gimp for the last few years.
So how should I create the blades?
Here is the dashboard without any FX

It's not the effects because both pictures are equally, and terribly, aliased. It must be something having to do with the way you select the blades when you outline them. Would you mind telling us exactly how you created them?

Your anti-rip text is not aliased at all, so it's not a problem with the dpi.

I used the circle selection tool and made an oval where the right side is shaped how I wanted it. then I used the negative circle selection to shape the left side. Then I used the polygon tool to shape the inner label area.
Then I just copied and pasted for the other 3 and then colored them in.
What is the correct way, as this obviously isn't.

I would recommend using the pen tool to make the edges of the blades. I think you'd find it much easier and yielding better, unaliased results...let me try to get you a visual aid...

Here you go.

I'm not even that advanced.
Questions:
1) how do you make the guide lines?
2) how did the pen tool automatically curve?

1. Hold Ctrl and press R a couple of times to see what is appearing/disappearing. You want the white rulers on the screen. With the Move tool selected, click on one of the rulers, drag, and drop it onto the canvas.

2. That's just how the pen tool works. I set an anchor point. Then I clicked it, dragged the curve path and dropped it, and clicked the curve endpoint.

This thread is inspiring me... :P

Hmm, the red one is still aliased. This is weird.

The white one is anti-aliased, the red one isn't. Don't know why, the red one is a copy of the white one.
Also, update before I leave.

The tabs have to be redone.

Red on green is no good.
And the lines are a bit sloppy.

It's temporary, and it's a good color set to used based on the nature of light.

Update:
Image
I redid the tabs and added another tab to both sides. How that will work is on different frames on flash I can just make the ones I want invisable.
I think all I have to do is color the tabs and then I can start on the menu parts.

Nice work and i think your doing a great job so far!

Although I really do think you should try fix that anti aliasing or at least smoothen out the sides of the blades because it looks kinda pixelated along the edges and isnt very apealing.
