Old Xbox mod discussion topic.

Post by SHOUTrvb »

I've noticed a lot of old topics have been bumped here lately so I decided to make this mod discussion topic. These forums are for posting your xbox mods, not bumping old topics. The authors of most the old threads aren't even around anymore... So I made this xbox mod disussion topic.

Here you can -
Talk about old mods and ask for help on them.
Talk about the good old days before pc and halo 2 stole all the glory.
Ask for help and maybe learn how you can help bring back xbox mods.
And even Request mods.

Please use this topic to your advantage instead of bumping old topics. Thanks!

Yoyorast Island's Mongoose (ATV) Tag...

Post by Karlos »

Ok, I'll probably be flamed for mentioning this, but is it by any
means "possible" to inject this tag into an Xbox map like Bloodgulch say, and either replace it with the Warthog for example, or add it fully to the map?!

From what I've read on other Forums, the answer seems to be:

"No, no, and definitely not! Halo CE Tags "never" have, and "never" will work on Halo NTSC or Halo PAL"...

...So, can anyone clarify that for me?! Or is it actually "possible", but too difficult to bother trying?!

Thanks for reading!

Regards,

Karlos

You can convert CE tags with Swamp fox's Halo X Editor. It has a guerrilla tag converter.

That's BS. I got a scenario tag to convert to xbox, no problems.

Guenhwyvar, like from that lost realms series.

Hmm, in the maps folder for halo 1, can anyone tell me which one is which for campagain maps? Cause I wanted to put MPSIM on my AOTCR but i have no idea which one it is...

If it means anything, its halo platinum addition.

And when putting on PFF patches, do I have to resign them like halo 2?

Thanks in advance muhby?

To mod Halo 1 maps, it's a bit different than Halo 2. Like Halo 2, you can mod the full .map files, but that's not necessarily what the .ppf patches hosted on Halomods are for. They are for cache files.

If you download a mod for a multiplayer map, such as Blood Gulch, or Sidewinder, the patch will be for cache003.map that will be found in either X:\, Y:\, or the Z:\ partition.
To get this map, I suggest you delete all the files in these partitions of your Xbox, and load Halo 1. Once loaded, play the map you want to mod. So if you wanted to mod Assault on the Control Room, go into Campaign, and load that map. Once loaded, go ahead and back out to your modded dashboard. Once here, FTP to your Xbox, and find which partition the cache data will have been loaded to.
You should see about 9 files (if I remember correctly), and they should mostly be named cache00*.map where * ranges from 0 to 9.. I believe it's 9.

Anyways, to mod singleplayer maps, you need the cache000.map. Grab that, patch it with PPF-O-Matic, and then send it back to the cache partition, overwriting the original cache000.map. Then load Halo 1 again, and go to play Assault on the Control Room. Your mod will be applied.

Now, if you wanted to mod a multiplayer map, you would need the cache003.map from the cache partition. The same process applies; load Halo 1, find the map you want to mod, load it, then head back to your modded dashboard and transfer cache003.map to your PC.

Edit: Unlike Halo 2, you do not need to sign anything before you transfer it back over. The Halo 1 maps do not have an encryption algorithm.

Could someone provide a link to the NMP2 CXE HMPi file? I'm trying to find it, but can't seem to locate it anywhere on the internet. Angry Camel took it down.

Sadly, NMP2/CXE with hmpi aren't available there.

I did manage to get ahold of it finally, from http://www.freewebtown.com/xboxcool/NMP ... _Final.rar

It took like 30-40 tries though, the download would fail randomly. Finally finished though, although its only 68.4mb which doesn't seem right. All the other mappacks on game-gateway were much larger.
