Clone chunks to swap resources... or not?

when you swap say the hlmt resource in a tag. do you need to clone a chunk? to do it the "correct way"? Also to add a vehicle on a map that doesnt have vehicles, i know you can go through itmc and swap & clone, is there any other way? with mach maybe? could someone drop a link on how to inject objects in maps without using the itmc tag? problem is when i do it through "itmc", i cant find the lone ID. the example I follow has his/her new object Lone ID show up as Mach, my new chunk doesnt show up at all!!

clone one ITMC chunk. lets say sniper just becuse everyone knows where that is on lockout and change it to vehicle/warthog then set the spawnpoint to the middle of the map. it should spawn now

thnx, I have done that successfully, say i want to add a shooting vehicle skin to a army jeep vehicle.(swap resources) *just an example* do I have to clone a seperate chunk for the swap?
PS. Does anyone know why ADI keeps crashing when I open *map even on a fresh untouched map? actually I can open it ok (sometimes), but when I try to compile map or switch to strings it crashes. is there an alternative to ADI?
-please believe I am NOT looking for quick easy answers. every question I post I have tried to resolve myself through READING and trial and error(typically HOURS). Thanx! to the people here that are willing to help.

no all you have to do if you want to put the skin of the wraith on the warthog just go in dothalo and in your map go to [shad] and find all of the wraith shaders and copy the offset then past them over the warthog shaders. dont forget to save changes each time

ok i said screw that *map, i've looked for an alternative to adi but to no avail. I worked on a *map all night last night, then when I tried to change strings and compi9le the map, adi crashed. i was like wtf. then i figured i screwed up somewhere, so i loaded a fresh map to make sure. that one crashed as well. my PC is up to par and i never had any probs loading anything else. so another *map is cool too.
now up to speed, I placed my 4 bit pred res. (hex workshop) at the end of the meta.note (in hex) which should be a chunk (i believe). i cannot get the lone id to show me the new chunk

when cloning Pred. Resources, are you required to clone chunks for the new resource's dependencies as well? mean that if a flying vehicle is dependant on a few jpt! and bloc's, do i need to clone chunks for all their dependancies as well?
I am trying to mod an old Game what is Halo btw? is it any good?
