HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

I've been modding for a while but still don't really know how to edit the effects of things like explosions. First what program would I use and how would I go about doing this? I couldn't find a tutorial so I thought I would ask.
Please don't give me a very general anwser, and maybe could you point me in the direction of a tutorial?

basically the EFFE tags holds all the info on how an effects looks like. there's like PRT3 tags, PMOV, and PRTM tags, which all have their own function on how an EFFE is showed in the game.. swap the dependency's to create other random effects.
basically you have no idea what you are doing, it's basically a bit of fiddling until you get an effect you like. remember too much effects will make the game lag

There was once a program that let you view all effects in Halo2. It was very useful, I do believe I still have the .rar for it.

If you check the archived Modding Forums of HIH v2. You should be able to find my old thread if you search for "Effect" by "Munsie." I had a big thread about how to make effects, and a few effects you could make via my posted pics.

thanks you guys.... Oh and BTW I found A very nice app, or it seems like one. has anyone ever tried the effect app in the utilites section. it looks nice.

Yeah its like 152mb though but its the best for viewing effects. Or the only.

that effect browser shows not much.. it gives a basic idea how it looks like, but furthermore each EFFE is different and is shown differently
