Graphics problem

I recently aquired a new computer, a Compaq Presario SR1365CL, but it seems to be having issues with Halo. When i started halo up, the first thing i noticed is that the ring itself is nothing but a solid white silhouette. the second thing i noticed was that the text is somewhat blurry around the edges, a little like the pixles have been smeard around. When i started a new campaign, it never got past the first 8 seconds of the opening movie. Halo was still white, as were the longswords. The Pillar of Autumn consisted of two near-verticle white slashes at a slight down and the the right slant sort of like this: \ \ the bridge was a tangle of white bits just ahead of the slashes, it froze there and i had to hard-restart my computer.

Specs: Windows XP Home

64 bit Athlon processor, 2.4 GHz
512 MB RAM
130 GB HDD (speed unknown)
Chipset graphics w/ factory drivers

any help would be appreciated.

what is ur graphics card. If it is what i think it is (intel chipset standard in compaq now) then it's a piece of *****. Go get a new graphics card or - take the cheap way out - and dwnl the drivers update. I'd recommend getting an ATI Radeon 9250. Cost bout $130, but it's awsome.
