halo2 hard drive problem(xbox)

I just got a new hard drive nothing big just what i need. I put the hard drive and it all works and ever thing. I have halo on it and some other mods but when i save halo 2 to and try to run it i get as far as "press the start button" after that it totally freezes and the same thing happens when I put in the CD. Could some please tell what I am doing wrong?
