How to resize images using Paint or Photoshop
This tutorial is aimed towards people who do not know how to change their signature sizes to fit within the allowed sizes on this forum. The allowed size is 500x120. Make sure your signature this size, or smaller.
Paint:
There may be other methods besides this one, but this works:
1. Open your image.
Example
2. Select All. (Ctrl-A)
3. In the bottom left corner there is a dot. Click and drag the selection until the picture is the size you want. To check the actual pixel width and height, go to Image/Attributes and it will show it there. If it is to large or smaller than you wanted it, simply repeat this step.
Example
Warning: If you want to make your image larger, bear in mind that it will become distorted.
4. Save and your done.
Photoshop:
1. Open your image.
2. Go to Image/Image Size
Example
3. You can either make only one dimension smaller, or the other. If you want both the height and width to be smaller, make sure the "Constrain Proportions" is checked, and type a new pixel size in (The other dimension will automatically change to compensate) and press OK. Your image should either shrink, or enlarge depending on what you typed in earlier. This is recommended so your image isn't stretched.
Example
If you wish only the to change the height or width individually, simply uncheck the "Constrain Proportions" box and type the separate dimensions in.
4. When you save, it is recommended to choose "Save For Web" instead of "Save" because it does not save a custom icon on your picture, and it is not as large in kilobytes.
(Pictures were taken in the mac version of PS, but there should be no major differences besides the GUI)
