That's illegal. You need to set the import window to "Files of Type: Wavefront OBJ"

Tural, i know i have to set it to "WaveFront Object (*.obj)"
I can show you what goes wrong past that point, here you go:
Link
Note: can be resized
I only want it for well, i'll call it educational purposes...

And to show i'm not some lazy bum that doesn't want to spend time on modelling and stuff:
Link
Note: my bumpmaps are mirrored on the left side of the elite, can anyone explain why?

Just to prove i'm not nuts.

EDIT:
I found a way to get the bumpmaps right, i selected 1/2 of the model and applied a mirrored UV Map. (and i mean not just flip horizontal, but correctly placed back too) then i mirrored the whole set of textures so it would be placed correct on the model. And before someone posts that it should be correct on import:
"Crazy stuff happens to crazy people."

Yea sry bout that Tural, I wasnt understanding what was being said. You were right.

Anyways, does anyone have a good tut on how to rig the master chief. I have been trying to rig him, and ive tryed using both the phisique modifier, and the skin modifier, but bieng a begineer at 3ds max, its not all that easy for me. I can get it down pretty good, but the problem I keep running into is the head. I gues if I sit down for a few hours I can get it, but does anyone have a tut on it?

Isnt there a way to extract the bipeds or the rigs from the game, i mean they move, so they gotta be rigged, and when surfing through the halo 2 files, i would find folders called, bipd, or biped i cant remember, and in it it said like mc biped and elite biped, etc, bt it wouldnt let me extract that out of the game.

You can't extract the rig. It should only take about 30 seconds to do the MC's head while rigging. It's completely rigid except for a little around the neck. Are you individually selecting verticies and weighting them? That's the easiest method I've found.

Actually, ADI does let you extract as DirectX models with all the bones and stuff, but i haven't found a program that imports them. (Polytrans and Softimage XSI Mod Tool do, but they give errors and then it shows up blank again, so i'm camping Google day and night to find the right program for them :P)

I suck like hell at rigging, so my only hope is that i find a program. X_X

If it were out there... it would have been found and used widely. :|

This may be a stupid questions but its something that I'm having problems with. I have the MC model all set up and when I go to rig it I can't get the bipeds shoulders (or any of the bones) to scale. I'm using 3Ds max 8. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

[EDIT]

Doh. I forgot to put it in figure mode.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
(i learned this one the hard way).

Ok de-select everything, then click a piece on the should and delete it, then re-apply material and if you delete the whole shoulder you did it wrong.

I'm having some trouble with the biped adjusting. Whenever I go to move any bones or anything, anything I've done beforehand resets.

And I can't move the head. This is pissin' me off.

Also, I can't get transparency on the teeth.

www.yayap.com has a really good rigging tutorial. Just make sure you use skin instead of physique.

I'm running Windows Xp X64 Pro, with 3DS Max 9 x64, along with all the files from Halo 2 Vista modded to run the game on XP.

I'm gonan try this in a bit anyway, but hopefully someone will know the problems i'll run into before i have to ask about it lol
