yeah i thought of that, instead of skinning a warthog and then having to turn on your xbox and go thru a long process you can just use 3dsmax

yep, that's a good advantage of rendering too. Use Platt's sticky tutorial for 3dsmax to help with the bipeds. Or just do what i did and click "help" in 3dsmax, and then click "tutorials" and do a search. Much easier.

it is indeed,

I guess Platt's tutorial is good for SOMETHING... lol

when finished, will i be able to rig these and turn em into tags for pc?
those are halo 2 tags i need to go through a conversion process to make tham able for usage on halo pc (actually ce [Custom Edition]).

umm all i have to do is export them using blitzkrieg and then idunno what to do.
(give a guy a break geez)
you should try to search for ce if you already dont have it.
(it makes you able to make your own maps)
but i only have halo 1 models/tags. so i'm gonna make eveyr halo 2 tag and place it on my custom map.

ther folo this link:

i don't believe anyone here has any plans of putting anything back into the game, i could be wrong, but that's not the point of rendering

He did, and he did right.
He assumed only intermediate users would read it, and not the fucking noobs.

I think this tut is awesome i just wish it explained how to get the alpha maps for the change_color .dds files, instead of just letting us download them. I could never figure out how to make the alpha maps with the other rendering tut but i've never used photoshop so that is probably one of my problems.

that's beacuase there are no alpha maps for the change color maps. What Platt did, is open both the change color map, and the corresponding diffuse map (example: masterchief_cc.0.0.dds and masterchief.0.0.dds), then make them both the exact same size (ctrl+alt+i) and then go to the "images->calculations" and use the multiply setting with one pic set as the red channel of a color change map and the other pic set as the alpha channel of the diffuse map.

So I let you donwload them,

To cut down about 10 more pictures... and save about 10Mb of bandwidth... lol

Hey Zmann966 is there a tutorial on how to create a diffuse color map, since i have yours i really don't need it for Halo, but there's other project that i am working on and i would like to know how to create the diffuse mix map.

isnt the diffuse map jsut the normal skin? then you add color to it later?

how do i get the bump map of the warthog?

Posted: Wed Sep 28, 2005 1:48 pm
by [CV] Jordan
the same way you got the bump for everything else :?

Posted: Wed Sep 28, 2005 3:26 pm
by Tiptup300
no, because almost all the things have the blue bitmap with it, that we use for the bump mapping but the warthog doesnt have it
