I'm still not sure I want this game. The biggest upside I think is that since its Halo and should sell a fair amount of copies, there should always be someone to play against in multiplayer.

They better have a good system to punish those that leave 0.5 seconds before you win the game.

i think, if they have a ranking system, they should take away 0.1 exp for every minute the game lasts when he leaves.

I usually like to play 1v1's. But yeah if there's no penalty it'll suck heaps.

Playing it more, I really love the ODST drops :) one of the best upgrades to get. Dropping in 9 squads in 2 seconds, then all using rocket launchers to blow up their base is very nice.

I wish the unit cap were slightly higher though.

I had one of the most devious AI's just now. It kept trying to steal my forerunner base right from under my nose, and it destroyed my base and made theirs where it was... I proceeded to fuck them with 30 marine units, then MAC'd those and made Uber Units, lol. I won.

Earlier I made a bunch of fully upgraded Honor Guards (like 16 I think) and they destroyed the enemy base with 0 casualties. It was good.

I'm too lazy to get my 360 back, download it, and play it, so I just watched videos of the demo.
It looks ok, but I'll probably just wait until the prices go down a bit before I buy it, I'm not sitting on the edge of my seat or anything.

Oh yes, that gets VERY annoying. You could at least force them to jump into a cavern or something.

I believe the Unit Cap is done by level size for performance issues :)
Bigger level cap. Bigger Levels ;)

This game is alright, but has one big downfall to me. Building your base has a lot of restrictions.

You're restricted to a small area which is closely grouped together.
There aren't very many slots to build structures in.
It's hard to distinguish what is what sometimes too.

I haven't really played it a whole lot, but I'm sure there are other things that would kind of bug me. It may just be that C&C has given me the idea of how an RTS should be played, but Halo Wars is different than I expected.

6/10 on the demo.

The Pelicans are awesome. They can carry like 4 or 5 units, basically whatever you can fit in the circle.

You want to drop ODST's? Bah, you can drop full Scorpion squads.
The Pelicans have no recharge time, you can call in multiple Pelicans for movement of more units and unlike the ODST, you have the Pelicans from the start.

Just build like 6 Scorpions a few Warthogs. Send the Suicide Warthogs to the enemy base as to light the area then use the Pelicans to transport the Scorpions.

You could always use the Prophet's Cleaning Beam or the MAC Cannon.

Runs out too fast or recharge time is too slow. takes like 10 mins to take out 15 scorpions

I lose on Heroic. All the time.
****in Scarab. I need tips.

Also, I have a bad habit in RTS games. No matter who I'm playing against, I will never attack them. They have to come to me, then when I'm confident, I will attack.

Until a scarab kills me.

This demo is much too easy for me on heroic.
I set up my base with a reactor and a barracks, the rest being supply pads and then make a few squads of marines. Then I send one squad off to the tower near the neutral base and 2 off to the towers along the chasm connecting the enemy base to mine. After the tower destroys the turrets, I send in a warthog or two to destroy the base and mop up the neutral soldiers and proceed to make my second base. There I make another reactor, a field armory, vehicle depot, air pad, and fill the rest up with supply pads. By that time I usually have my marines upgraded to ODSTs and have amassed a small army of them. I add a few tanks or elephants to the mix and top it off with an upgraded vulture. Also making sure that I have all of my base turrets upgraded to rail guns before a send off, just in case the enemy sends a few troops over to my base. That there is my ultimate recipe for victory.

I was surprised with the demo. I honestly thought it was going to be a campaign map and that's it. I was very impressed when I was able to play the tutorials, 2 campaign levels, and skirmish matches as both UNSC and Covenant. Can't wait for the game to be released, everything seemed pretty clean cut to me, the only thing I'd like is if you could zoom in a bit more.

You probably already can zoom in too much. The textures up close look like shit in the demo: here's me hoping for hi-res versions in the final.

I like zooming out. I wish I could see more of the battlefield when trying to coordinate assaults.
I think I'll be getting this game. Though, I won't be getting the LCE. I can buy the game for ~$80AUD, but the only place that sells the LCE is trying to rape customers for $120AUD. The main motivation for the LCE is the maps (for HW and H3) and I don't think they're worth $40 :/

Also, are there actual brutes to train and use in this game? I note the leader dude, but haven't seen or heard anything else.
