This really make me wanna go out and buy GTA for pc. But that would mean I'd have to buy a new rig that can handle it.

Some crappy $80 ATI gfx card
I guess what I'm afraid of is dropping 60 bucks on a game and finding out I can't play it later on.

Is that dual core? And I think you'll be able to play it, just on the lowest settings and not a high-res. There are even mods available to increase performance for lower end machines.
