Unseal the Hushed Casket (Render)

Post by Jean-Luc »

There's something about this particular part of the Halo introductory cinematic that I found very artistically intriguing. The color contrast between the blue LCD and the yellow-orange keys made for a nice combination, and the cryptic message from Cortana quickly became iconic of the series. That said, the Halo 1 engine obviously wasn't capable of the kind of high resolution textures and shaders capable to achieve true detail on that scene, so out a spurt of both creativity and boredom, I remade that image with a bit of artistic liberty taken, and have created a wallpaper from it. It is 16:10 aspect ratio, fit for widescreen computer monitors. I'm attempting to get a 4:3 from it, but to no avail thus far.

For now, enjoy, and I'll be working on another iconic scene very shortly ;)

Warning, for you 56k and DSL users, the image is a full 1.1MB in size.

Looks very nice.
Could be improved by giving the keys a more orange color and a bit of a glow.

Yes the keys need to be more orange and the image could be a tad darker, but it's very nice. I may even use it in the future.

That's amazing.

Great work!

Your next project should be MC and the Marines standing on the gravity lift from Truth and Reconciliation.

Thank you guys very much. This is the first scene out of many:

Chances are, it'll be impossible for me to do every single one of those, but it's a basic rundown of some of the more memorable scenes in the Halo series.
