Looks like lots of tesselation and a heightmap. Along with several open edges.

Please refrain from posting like that. It makes you look un-imaginably stupid when doing so.

Thank you.

Now for the criticism.

Where shall i start. In the first pic, there's a hand going through the BSP. Not good ;) And the edges are way too straight for a natural landscape, you shouldn't use displace maps. Just plane model it like with max, it's MUCH easier. :)

there's nothing wrong with displacement maps. ease depends on who you are. look at my terrain maps, and you'll see well done displacement mapping techniques.

you do realize that you'll never get that into CE the way it is, right? keep trying though. you need to check out the tutorials for making a bsp. and you shouldn't use milkshape, you should use gmax or 3dsmax.

..

Don't overestimate beginners, they wouldn't know how to create a good displacement maps.

That's why i suggested it. He should firstly learn how to plane model.

If he doesn't want to do that and straight onto the displacements map, he should look up some tutorials.

Question for all the "model gurus" out there..

I've done my fair share of Milkshape tinkering, but I wouldn't mind making full map files. What do you guys suggest I get to do this?

Gmax and/or 3ds Max are your only options. View front page of halomods for full video tutorials telling you how to get a map ingame.

3ds Max has a free 30 day trial

You can find updated versions of blitzkrieg plugin for Max here
I believe that blitzkrieg for Max 5 works for Max 8.

thanks for posting that up, Veegie. oh, and there is a max 6 blitzkrieg plugin for 6 and up. the max 5 plugin doesn't work for max7 (at least, not for me).

thought that could be of useful information.

Ah, been meaning to clear up those blurry areas on compatibility between versions.

Ohk, I'm not too concerned about injecting, I don't have Halo Full, or Halo CE.. Just the trial, so it doesn't matter.

*Goes to DL*

Hopefully you'll see a WIP from me soon.

this map needs alotof work exspecialy if you cant have any open edges or collision or even degenerate triangle s on it.

wrong, he needs to redo it in gmax or 3dsmax and follow the sealed world rules, etc etc etc.
