Wasn't that what this gallery was initially started for?

This isn't the actual gallery. The gallery is located on the HM front page, and this is just the submission thread. However Veegie hasn't updated the thread in some time, so this is pretty much the new gallery. And no, permission is stil required if someone wants to use a render in their own work. Or at least credit.

Don't use the Ch2r bumps... use Entity to extract bumps.

I'm not exactly sure why the windshield is purple. I kind of had to improvise since the windshield had no alpha map.

And I'm not using illegally downloaded software, like most of the people with 3ds on this site.

Oh by the way, this was done on a Mac, to demonstrate Blender's cross-system compatibility.

Space those out man...Jeez...

The Arbiter looks great...but the rest have so much bloom. And the MC looks kinda low detailed.

Why accuse us with stealing?

I legally hace 3DS Max 9, its a bit of a generalisation saying everybody has an illegal torrented/cracked version. I got all my software through my dad's business. But render wise, little toomuch bloom, looses the detail a lil bit. But I am very impressed considering it was blend3r.

Blender's built-in material system does not directly support how I rendered these, but it does have a node compositor which I used for gamma multiplicative normal effects (a phrase I just made up) and more accurate normal-mapping (blender's built in normal-mapping system had a little less quality).

"More accurate normal mapping" isn't going to help when you're using incorrect normal maps to begin with.

That bump/normal is wrong. It looks very bad. Use a recent version of Entity to get a proper normal map, or use the Active Camo Bump, as it is the normal map.

Please don't get me started on the masterchief. Every other model I make looks decent, he is the only one I have spent hours trying to hopelessly perfect.

I'm not saying it's better than 3ds or maya or anything else, I'm saying it's free and is supported by most operating systems (for me specifically, Mac)
